The Luke Akehurst Fan Club visits Guido

I made the mistake of posting a rather geeky comment about Guido's post about the new ComRes poll.

This seems to have rather excited his readers, prompting the following comments in response:

"Luke Akehurst will quite happily stab Gordon in the back after he loses the election, just as he did Blair after the Brownites deposed him from power. The man has no conscience, no loyalty except to his own career. He's a councillor in Hackney, quite possibly the shittest borough in England. He's alco defended his pc pals on Harin-GAY council. In other words, a complete and utter waste of space whose never done a hard day's work in his life. I should also tell you that he's a lobbyist, working on behalf of the arms industry. Nice!

"Thanks Luke 1.42 Labour activist since 1988 so I dont think you have anything worth saying. Why dont you post on Comment isnt Free like all the other commies.
December 2, 2008 1:51 PM"

"sam 1.50 Thanks for that revealing insight into Luke Akehurst. He sounds like a right c**t.
December 2, 2008 1:59 PM"

"Luke is a cock - he used to be head of Labour Students and whenever I came into contact with him (as a member of Labour Students) I always thought how little actual talent and normalness he had, I'm surprised he has managed to actually hold down a job and get as far as he apparently has
December 2, 2008 2:06 PM"

"Luke Akehurst used to be a lover of Gordon's new head spin doctor Michael Dugher. Everyone's banging everyone else in the nu Lab big tent! Bunch of thieving perverts. Give 'em the chemical Ali treatment!
December 2, 2008 2:58 PM"

I should point out that the comment posted at 2:58 isn't true, before Mr Dugher contacts his libel lawyers.

Anyone would think Guido's readers were a bit peeved about the Tory lead collapsing to 1%.

They seem awfully obsessed with anal sex from those comments.

I wonder if it's a 'Littlejohn' sort of obsession with homosexuality.

Is there any analysis anywhere as to why poll results are so divergent at the moment? Different polls have us from 1% down anywhere up to 13% down and that seems a large spread. Is it possible that in troubled times people are liable to change their mind more often according to the days' news? Why are the results more inconsistent than normal?

All the comments on Guido are like that. What is the actual point of it? I mean people used to describe it as a political blog... It seems to be just a forum strange people to bark assorted bile and libel. I used to occasionally check what he was saying, but the comments are so repulsive and puerile that I really can't be bothered.

What disgusting comments. And by people who bang on constantly about how much the country is going to the dogs. My, the Blue Rinse Brigade has changed, hasn't it?

Typical Tories - always thinking about gay sex, but never doing any!

It does rather show them in their true colours, as does the fact that they think its perfectly ok to leak, let the civil servant take the blame, and pretend they are carrying out some sort of public service.

Keep on annoying them!

As opposed to all the other comments, which were all true?

Priceless!

Btw, that comment about Michael Dugher was made by none other than a certain Duncan Hall.

Not so high and mighty now, are you Dunc, eh?

The other comments were judgements about me rather than libels about anyone else.

As much as I'm sure we all disagree with you from time to time, it's comments from Tory scum like that which remind us we are all on the same side here. Guido's commenters do appear to suffer from serious mental health issues.

EXCUSE ME that comment was NOT by me and I would not make any such comment.

Please retract that lie.

Was the comment attributed to me? I've just read it again: I do not use the term 'nu labour', I do not make homophobic remarks; any political disagreements I might have with Luke or Dugher would not lead to me making any comment of that sort.

Luke,

That particular allegation has now been deleted. Normally an email will suffice.

Most of the comments are made by window-licking loonies. Currently getting circa 40,000 hits and some 500 comments a day by perhaps a hundred individuals. So something like less than 1/4% of the readership make comments.

Temperamentally I am not inclined towards censorship or pre-moderation, hence the laissez faire attitude towards comments.

Very much doubt my readers are Tories, most of them seem to think the Tories are no better than Labour.

I'm pretty fed up with the tone of the comments. When my readership was smaller they used to be wittier and contain gems of gossip, now they are off puttingly repetitive and dull.

I want to keep the spontaneity but somehow incentivise better commentary.

Guido - please just keep your patronising comments to yourself.

I, and many other people have a visceral hatred of NLabour and all those who support it.

NuLabour has done staggering levels of damage to this country. After 17 years of severe pain while the Tories ham-fistedly put the economy to rights, they have blown that all away with 10 years of "boom" leading to the most almighty crash in living memory. It will leave millions of people without work, thousands of families homeless while NuLabour and its supporters say "it was all the fault of the Tories you know." as if this could possibly be any kind of acceptable excuse for a party that has been in power for 11years. It would not surprise me if we went back to the days of IMF loans and even bread rationing the way things are going. It is an absolute shambles covered up with the kind of pathetic excuses that little children resort to when cornered by a parent. It will take 30 years of Tory inflicted pain to sort this all out and I'm not sticking around to see it through. I have had enough. You are all welcome to the festering mess you have had the joy of creating. Why not turn it into Burma Mk II and have done with it?

With that background a few swears seems remarkably reticent. It is high time the people of this nation took up their pitchforks and marched on Westminster to turf this unelected prime minister out of office and write a new constitution to ensure that never will a government be permitted to buy votes through debt, nor curtail the hard-won freedoms of the people or its elected representatives. Sadly such a demonstration of public anger would be met by the terrorist police using the full force of the Terrorism Act and topped off nicely with the Civil Contingencies Act which would probably ensure we never got the chance to vote this useless cabal out of office ever again.

In the situation we find ourselves in, telling lickspittle Labour activists "You're gay" seems rather limp-wristed. I'd tell you far worse myself, but as it seems you are easily offended I'll leave you to rot in your own self-delusion. I've got better things to do. Emigration takes a lot fo work.

I wonder where all these rabid right-wingers are planning to go? After all, there are few countries where left of centre governments will not be elected at some time or other.

But yes, good riddance to the lot of them
