Ouch x 3 (i.e. we just lost 3 wards to the Tories)

  1. So the Tories can and do make gains in the Midlands. Maybe the press and you will stop saying the Tories are a south party only. Unlike Labour who are of course just Scotland, Wales and Northern England.

  2. So far only in wards that we've lost the past two years anyway. Fingers crossed.
Better news; we held the Hodge Hill ward pretty easily (won by a LibDem in 2007).

  3. Since most of the seats up for grabs are in Wales, Northern England and the Midlands I expect the Tories to only make a few gains but that would be good for them since their main strength (and most of the population) are in the South West, the South and East Anglia.

  6. Someone should tell mike that Scotland, Wales and Northern England are bigger than South England hence why Labour's been in power for the past 10 years, and Birmingham council was Tory controlled already fella. Still got some time to go before winning up north fairy.

  15. pfft, lab are slowly alienating the center left in the attempt to grab more of the southern votes, i expect more people will turn against them, they should still win in the north, but the gaps should be closer.

  16. You've lost 6 seats in Brum to the Tories on the night. 3 of your rising stars booted. Tories got a 10% swing to win in Stockland Green.

1,000+ Labour majority reduced to 80 in Kingstanding.
