Hardly an 'independent'. This is Cllr. Nadia Stewart - a member of the very left-wing Stewart family, who are strong backers of Robert Wareing!
I used to live in the ward she represents - before she was a councillor. I recall having arguments at meetings as to how appalling the Labour party was back in 96, because it was so right wing...and now she opts to join Liverpool's LibDems?
I'm hoping the swing away from the Liberals to Labour is going to continue in a swathe across the Pennines, sweeping me in in Craven...
It's not too good is it? Good there are a few beacons. Don't know if you're on telly again, Luke, but I think someone needs to say something a bit more profound than 'we need to listen to what the voters are telling us'. I think there is a narrative to tell about the Labour vote staying at home or going to other places (not the Tories) on the psephological side, but we also need a narrative about proceeding with a vision and sharing the vision with the country. Ed Miliband was sort of hinting at it in the BBC studio, but it needs to sound more positive I think for that message to get properly across.
The Liverpool lib dems, like labour, have been in power so long they have become arrogant and represent themselves to the people instead of the way it should be. I voted labour today not because I like the them but because I detest the local lib dems more than them.
If this were a general election I would vote Tory or lib dem. Labour are a long way down my list
I agree with the comments re: Gordon. Unfortunately the dumb British public don't appreciate intellectual vigour which Gordon evidently has, and prefer smarmy salesmen like Blair and Chameleon. I can't see one on the front bench though.

... and I think it has to be said - it needs someone who can communicate that effectively.
