A blog by Luke Akehurst about politics, elections, and the Labour Party - With subtitles for the Hard of Left.
Just for the record: all the views expressed here are entirely personal and do not necessarily represent the positions of any organisations I am a member of.
I look forward to a comment by Hughes Views with the same sense of magical imminence which, as a child , I experienced in the Dentists waiting room.
On Gaza quite right Luke , well done , if you were not otherwise a drippy socialist I might find myslef thinking, that Luke bloke is not too bad. AS it is I sorrow for your error and hope iot was only a matter of getting in with the wrong crowd.
I'm Jewish and I'd like to give wholehearted support to the state of Israel. But the use of phosphorus bombs on civilians in Lebanon and Gaza fills me with goading and shame.
I'd like to see a two-state nation where Israelis and Palestinians co-exist and have a right to protect and respect their people and their borders. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words and, for me, this says so much. Israel has gone too far in its occupation and must make greater concessions towards peaceful Palestinians (not Hamas, obviously).
"Members of the black community in Britain shun politics because democratic institutions are white-dominated and fail to reflect a diversity of views, a leading campaigner said today." here
So what do you think of this press release? I note that that only three of the 33 contributors to Labourlist are black or Asian!
I agree with the wider point that we need more BME holders of public office though,
Why ? I`d concerntrate on getting more people from red haired backgrounds into high office. Just as relevant. My wife is black and the idea that she is represented by Dianne Abbot or that chirruping child David L makes her throw her Daily Mail at the cat in horror .
What a nasty thing to say Mike. Mike we used the same weapons in Iraq and Afganistan and we probably sold them to Israel. Even the coated ammo we used is now considered so toxic that large areas of Iraq are considered contaminated.
You wait in ten years there will be birth defects and health problems as a result.
Don't blame the occupants of Israel blame both political factions for being stubborn. History is not important, what is important is that they move on and build a better future.
The fact we have been accused of using them is absolutely no excuse - and there is something particularly distasteful about a formerly oppressed group turning into oppressor, and ironic that we are expected to remember the holocaust they constantly remind us about whilst those from the same group carry out their own....
...and on the very day I left my first comment (under young Douglas's posting) on the site. Mr Draper must think it's Xmas Day all over again!

3/33 = 9% - 1% higher than the 8% of BME people in the total UK population.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the wider point that we need more BME holders of public office though, but not with the proposed solution of all black shortlists.

And now the murdering thugs of the Zionist state have been caught using phosphorous
ReplyDeleteThe sooner this illegal state and its occupying citizens are obliterated, the better.
