Another Triumph for Cameron
Yesterday's byelection in Turkey Street Ward, Enfield (Tory since 2002 and in a key marginal parliamentary seat):
C 877, Lab 874, UKIP 174, Save Chase Farm 133, Lib Dem 77, Green 51.
(May 2006 - 3 seats C 1546, 1437, 1431, Save Chase Farm 1188, Lab 1100, 907, 818).
C hold. Majority 3 votes, Swing: 7.2% C to Lab.

It is hardly surprising: Enfield's conservatives have done a superb job in running the council and deserve the win.

Actually I was pointing out that they almost lost - they lost 5 seats against the national tide in May as well.

A very good result for Labour in Enfield and extremely encouraging for Joan Ryan. After a good set of results in May where we nearly took back control, we seem to be on the way back in this Borough!

Turkey street should by rights be labour. Given con and ukip votes- I wouldn't be rubbing my hands with glee just yet.
Unless everyone in Enfield suddenly suffers from amnesia in the next election, cons will retain their hold. Michael Lavender and Terry Neville know what people want and how to get it sorted.

Kris, just for the record, are you a Tory?

Ha! I don't think they'd have me!
I have worked for both Hackney and Enfield for my sins and have seen the insanity for myself...

Although why would you vote for Cameron at the moment? When his policy reviews come back and have policies, yes, but the for the moment it's froth, bubble and oak trees.
