Oops there goes another one
And then there were 18. The incredible shrinking Socialist Campaign Group of MPs. C'mon Diane you must be getting bored with the Commons when you could be doing telly the whole time... (hat tip: The Daily)

Since I would like to avoid to see her on TV too much, I think she should stay in the Commons! :-)
Any chance of another leftist to be selected in Walthamstow? Isn't Laura Bruni (2005 Colchester PPC) the CLP secretary there? Is she interested and/or has any chance?

Yes she is the CLP Secretary.
It's very near Hackney though ...
;)

"It's very near Hackney though ..."
are you going to make a "trip" there?

I would have thought that there are a lot of ambitious councillors in Waltham Forest who would fancy their chances. Given Labour's pretty good showing in last year's locals, there could be several in borough candidates.
Could be an exciting nomination

I used to hear the rumour a lot - from various sources, on the Labour left as well as from those on the Blairite/LCC wing of the party - that Neil Gerrard was really a CPB entryist. Any truth in the rumour, or ideas where that came from?

Would imagine Clyde Loakes, Leader of the Council, might well fancy his chances.
Go for it though, Mr A!

Clyde is on the Amicus Parliamentary Panel and is a decent guy. Would make a very good MP.

Loyalists will probably go for Loakes, left-wingers for Laura Bruni. I imagine Neil Gerrard has a successor in mind. And it won't be Loakes.

Very sad to see Neil go. He's fab.

Luke,
I'll not beat around the bush here and it's a striaghtforward question with a straightforward answer: is there some kind of sexual tension between you and Diane that might be resolved in 'other ways'?
I'm sure Linda would understand and see it as being for the good of the party.

Anonymous,
I'm just not Diane's type - I'm in the wrong party for a start. Allegedly.

Other locals likely to throw their hats in include Stella Creasy, Cllr Liaquat Ali, Cllr Afzal Akram, Cllr Naz Sarker and Simon Wright (former High Street councillor and PPC for Chingford in 2005).

Luke,
Thanks for the response. I have to admit, as if you haven't guessed, I made the comment out of spite. Not spite directed at you (I don't really know much about you), but that supercillious harridan. As with Kate Hoey, it's one of those cases where you wonder a) how they ended up MPs in the first place and b) why their CLP puts up with them.
I hope your CLP show her the door and send her where she belongs - 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here'!
