Excuses, excuses

Following in the Iain Dale school of by-election analysis, Respect has this take on Southall: "the short timescale of the election made for difficult terrain. Respect came fifth with 1.6 percent of the vote " and "The snap election was designed by New Labour to disadvantage other parties and was extremely undeomocratic [sic]. The timing of the scandalous suspension of George Galloway from parliament two days before the poll was clearly designed to affect the vote in Southall."

Carry on believing that comrades, if it makes you feel better. It will be interesting to see how you explain away losing the Shadwell Ward by-election in Tower Hamlets on 9 August if that happens (wrong kind of voters perhaps, or that old Leninist standby, "false consciousness"?).

They did incredibly badly though didn't they? Their candidate seemed alright in fact. Spoke well. Sensible enough.

They are an electoral farce rather than force.

If Respect are so irrelevant then why even mention them? It's snide, childish and pointless for someone who seems to be trying to be seen as a worthwhile politician. Whom do you think your attitude will impress? I'd guess that you're more Tory than 'moderate Labour' at heart - and are just dying to get your snout in the trough proper.

When it comes down to it, unless you've had the strength of character to stand out against the party on a major issue such as sending the armed forces into an illegal war, I'd say your opinion is about as wet and obedient as anyone could possibly ask for. Does the lapdog want a biscuit?

Hmmm ... have the McDonnellites ever disagreed with him? And have those who backed Cruddas spoken out against him? No? Thought not! But of course these people aren't grovelling little sycophants, are they? They're principled individuals! And those who actually agree with Blair and Brown on principle? Poodles! I just love the hypocrisy of the Left! Absolutely love it! ;)

Going into an alliance with the Muslim Brotherhood after accepting boatloads of bent cash does not make you left wing.

Come on now be fair George was a member of the Labour party for more than 20 years. His political veiws have not strayed to far away from "traditional" labour left values. It is no wonder he has the support from the left.

dare i suggest that Respects poor performance was down to having a sihk candidiate rather than Muslim. If anyone doubted that Respect is a Muslim Community only organisation then i think the Southall by-election proves that it is just that.

I hate the hypocrisy of Blairite sock puppets who spend hours rubbishing principled left-wingers and don't even have the honesty to say who they are. BTW I have no time for galloway, either.

I don't believe I said I was NOT a fan. In fact I think George makes a lot of valid and interesting points about politics both here and abroad. His preformance againist the senate was appluded by yes us on the left but also some on the right (like Annabelle Goldie-Con). Despising him won't make him go away; listen what he had to say on Iraq and other issues he was not far off the mark.
By the way (or should that be BTW?) the fact you are not man/woman or some sort of asexual creature to leave your name I think tells me a lot about you. I may not agree with him, but atleast Sham has the balls to leave his name, when you decide to do the same maybe you can critise us you moron.

I personally think it was a mistake for George to have formed his own party. He would have been an excellent force for change outside the party, maybe even being asked to rejoin one day. He has however seemed to have burned his bridges, mind you contesting against our people has not stopped us taking on a couple of ex tories and Ken Livingstone, so you never know, maybe Luke might sing his praises!!!!!!!!!!
