NEC Nominations
A new service for Labour Party train-spotters - I thought I'd start posting here any CLP nominations for the NEC I hear about as they happen.
Two to start the ball rolling:
Leeds NE CLP nominated Peter Wheeler, Ellie Reeves, Sonika Nirwal and Ann Black
Thanet S CLP nominated Peter Wheeler, Ellie Reeves, Sonika Nirwal, Deborah Gardiner and Azhar Ali
Please feel free to report your own CLP's nominees in the comments below.

I think that neither of those 2 CLPs made nominations last time

Dear Luke
I wonder if either of the CLPs cited is sending a delegate to Conference who has already made travel and hotel bookings. You might like to warn them that the Conference dates have been changed, partly thanks to votes in favour by Messrs Reeves and Wheeler.
Details can be seen here:

The scoundrels!
There must be a sinister rightwing reason for this dastardly plot.

Dear Luke
As you are aware, but many CLPs and delegates are not, the Conference Arrangements Committee (which reports daily to delegates on the agenda) meets the day before the official opening of Conference to discuss possible changes.
The change therefore obliges any delegate that knows the ropes to split holiday time over two working weeks. In the absence of consultation, it therefore could place a further obstacle in the way of rank-and-file members playing a full part in the governance of the Labour Party.
Since you label Wheeler and Reeves as 'right-wing' who am I to argue? I would say it is further evidence of right-wing anti-democractic acquiescence, which can only benefit the interests of career politicians.
It has to be challenged at every instance if the Labour Party is to have any chance of rebuilding its membership, and stabilising its finances.

Peter, I am sure our delegate will be touched by your concern for his welfare, but I can confirm that as yet, the Leeds North East delegate has not booked any accomodation or transport, as we only elected him last night!

Many people HAVE already booked accommodation and now face a wrangle over the bill with hoteliers....most hotels have been booked up for months. As the Leeds delgate will dscover when he/she tries to get accommodation

Dear Luke
These are right leaning clps. The worrying thing for your camp at Labour First is the fact that all of the slate didn't get nominated and they managed to nominate somebody from the grassroots alliance. I already have a nomination, but so do many of the grassroots alliance.
See you
John

wiseman,
which CLP nominated you? And who else got the nomination from that CLP?
8:39 pm, February 02, 2008
Leeds NE right-leaning? Only 15 years ago they selected Liz Davies, then of Labour Left Briefing, as their PPC!

"most hotels have been booked up for months"
In Manchester? MOST of them? Really?
Bullshit.

But, Luke, think how many people have left the Labour party since then?
Particularly in that constituency.

If anyone is having difficulty booking a hotel in Manchester for the new conference dates, I suggest they look at expedia.co.uk - I just typed in the conference dates and got 4 pages of hotels with rooms available!

Andy - if you look at many of the hotels most are miles out or pretty expensive - and a very large number have "we cannot confirm availability" written underneath. Expedia (and other sites I've used)also let you get all the way through booking what they have advertised as an available room but right at the end tell you it's actually not available after all.
