Get your facts right Guido
The latest in an occasional series noting that rightwing bloggers know next to nothing about the internal politics of the Labour Party.
Guido has a go at David Aaronovitch, accusing him of speaking at a Compass fundraiser (pretty much the worst slander you could ever throw at someone in my view).
Except that my understanding is that the event Aaronovitch spoke at was:
a) a fundraiser for the Walthamstow Constituency Labour Party, not Compass
and
b) he was debating AGAINST Neal Lawson of Compass
Never let the facts get in the way of a good story though Guido.

Details, mere details. You are probably right, but that is not the way Compass spun it in their email newsletter.
Compass email extract below:
Debate and Dinner with David Aaronovitch and Neal Lawson in Walthamstow: 26 March.
We're delighted to announce the details of Walthamstow's spring fundraising debate dinner on Wednesday 26 March. Guest speakers Neal Lawson, Chair of Compass and Guardian Columnist, and David Aaronovitch, Times Columnist and Question Time panel member will join us. PPC for Walthamstow Stella Creasy will act as Chair.

It was a Walthamstow CLP organised event, as anyone in the party locally can attest. Always double-check your sources.
And I speak as someone who has little time for either speaker, particularly the preposterous Aaranovitch

Well, its clear enough to me - a debate, the Chair of Compass and another speaker - usually in a debate, that means someone from a different perspective.
Maybe it doesn't in the murky right-wing hole inhabited by Guido.
