Barnsley
Predicted Labour loss of control in Barnsley hasn't materialised.
A blog by Luke Akehurst about politics, elections, and the Labour Party - With subtitles for the Hard of Left. Just for the record: all the views expressed here are entirely personal and do not necessarily represent the positions of any organisations I am a member of.

Got any posts about your justification for the Iraq war? I'd like to read them.

Mate can you call someone and get spinners that don't embarrass us to go live on telly? fuck me! they look pathetic and noone believes a bloody word they're saying.

Try typing Iraq into the search engine and you will find plenty!

Luke - They won't hold up in a war crimes court.

My name is Alex and I am from NI. I am lucky to be an outside observer but to be honest I am supporting the cons. I am personally bitter about a lot of labours actions in my country and maybe the cons can deliver a defeat to labour that the NI parties can't.

Your turning into a great pundit.
Instead of telling us to google about the war, why dont you show us with your superior (cough cough) knowledge, and fill us in.
Why did Brown abolish the 10% tax rate for the lowest earners? Why does he want to bring in 42 days without charge for suspects accused of terrorism (even America dont go this far).

The hell was that Jeremy Vine rubbish portray sketch? has he been drinking?
1:25 am, May 02, 2008
America holds people indefinately without trial or charge in Guantanamo Bay and black sites across the world. I think Brown is authoritarian, warmongering scum, but I don't think he's as bad as Bush, Cheney and their cronies.

I can't see why someone in Northern Ireland must be appalled by the thought of the end of the troubles. Jaw Jaw is better than War War.

Why is the troll John Doe going on about Iraq? This blog is covering the local election campaigns.
You shouldn't stand for it Luke.

Blair Fan
Politics and war are interlinked.

Local elections aren't just about local issues. I would never vote for anybody who supported the Iraq war because I doubt their morals.
1:28 am, May 02, 2008
Given your intelligence, I'm flabbergasted that you vote, never mind actively support, Labour. It seems to me that there are far too many people out there who follow politics as blindly as they follow their football team.

Interestingly enough there are quite a few people in NI who are appalled by the end of the troubles (republican Sinn Fein for example) I am a unionist and Labour is not generally held in high regard in my community
1:29 am, May 02, 2008
I doubt the morals of anyone who wanted the Baathist regime to stay in place.
Does the Unionist have a pipe and a big drum? They are the only protestants I know who don't want peace.

Politics and war are interlinked.
In this election they have nothing to do with it.
John Doe should take his pointless moralising somewhere else.
The campaign is over in any event. No need for your propaganda anymore.
1:35 am, May 02, 2008
Harse! ofcourse we want peace the UUP basically layed themselves down on the political alter for peace. Furthermore your relyin on an outdated steriotype not all unionists are protestant. Also I am 18 don't smoke a pipe and I don't like lambeg drums.
I think the most interesting performance tonight is the Lib dems (sorry tories) the Lib dem performance looks like a patchwork quilt up and down all over the place. This suggests to me that they are more reliant on the performance of individual councillors than on the personality battle between labour and the cons

John Doe should take his pointless moralising somewhere else.
Yeah, who needs morals? This is politics!

That is jaw droppingly bad
