New Blog
My friend Jessica Asato has asked me to post a link to the blog she is writing about setting up the Gareth Butler History Trust in memory of her husband, who died suddenly earlier this year. The Trust will carry on Gareth's twin loves of history and education.

Dusk is falling rapidly on the NuLabour project, is it not?
Things are about to get much, much worse.
So where's Luke?
What is needed now are some courageous postings. "Once more up the voters' arseholes, dear comrades."
Well, when the tough get going Luke heads for the bedclothes and into the fridge for some comfort food.
Too right the punters are all laughing at you. 20 years you've given to this party and you might as well split now because the next ten are going to be pure hell.

If the next ten years are pure hell, it will only be because voters have been stupid enough to trust the Tories once again. They are good for only one thing - making empty promises. Ca-moron will destroy this great country. He is the worst leader the Tories have ever had, and that is saying something. Labour's time will come again.

John Jenkins
Labour have destroyed the UK so it's too late for that. Labours time will not come again. The Unions are turning their back on the party and their funding is rapidly vanishing.
I personally think that after the next general election the contest will be between the Lib Dems and the conservatives. Labour will be pushed into third place and will probably split into two parties. One socialist and one neo conservative / NuLabour.
From what I'm being told from my reliable sources the Labour party is having a financial crisis and the Unions are going to pull the plug. I'm on the board at one very large union and we are about to announce just that.
Sorry Luke but the party is over and Labour are finished for at least 20 years.

I reckon if Gordy put aside a week for a complete personal rework then he could survive.
To include some NLP, a bit of coaching on dramatic technique as well as some core think re-engineering.
Surely, someone must be able to take him through a 3-hour script to be learnt by heart. You could create a reasonable semblance of a human who shares the same planet as everybody else.

rich - i think your saying what you want to happen rather than what is likely to happen. The tories were apparently finished in the 90s and labour were also 'finished' in the 80s. Labour will recover, the pendulem effect and all that but of course they have to change to improve their position.
Destroyed the UK - haha thats just ridiculous, in what ways has the basic parts of the UK been destroyed, there you go nice open question for you to rant abit more.

Labour have simply carried on the destruction that the last conservative government started.
If you listen to what the conservatives are saying then you would realise that they actually think that many of the policies of the last conservative were wrong. They openly admit that privatising the railways was a mistake and you would have expected Labour to buy it back. There are even hints that the conservative may do actually that as well as getting rid of PFI and PPP which are also deeply unpopular.
People like myself are extremely powerful in local matters and it was my efforts together with other local businesses that got the conservatives Crewe. We are working class people that have a lot of respect from those that know us.
Labour have completely lost the working class vote. You now have to rely on the liberal middle class. I'm going to make sure that my union connections make sure this current strain of Labour is laid to rest for good.
Labour will emerge again, correct, but it won't be this bunch of politically correct bunch of pen pushers. Good riddens no good career politicians who are treating working people like cash machines.
The next 20 years are going to be very tough for most working people. We've all got to bust our guts to put things right and get Britain back on track.

I'm amused that so many people are wasting (and over the past few months have wasted) time over this "rich" fella; he's either a fantasist or an especially unfunny troll. Perhaps both.

You wait.
On the first day of a Conservative government, Dave will demand that the price of oil will fall from $200 a barrel.
Five minutes later, disillusion will set in. The Daily Mail will report that his cabinet are secretly plotting his removal.
There will be call for the return of Brown.
At a by-election one month later in Kirkcaldy, the winning candidate will have secured a swing of 99% to Labour.
