Republican reaction to losing
The British press seem to have largely missed the extraordinary - indeed bonkers - reaction to Obama's victory by the far right of the Republicans.
According to Associated Press, Republican Congressman Paul Broun (from Georgia's 10th District where he was just reelected with about 70% of the vote) said on Monday:
"It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force, I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism."
"That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did," Broun said. "When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist."
He added: "We can't be lulled into complacency. You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I'm not comparing him (Obama) to Adolf Hitler. What I'm saying is there is the potential of going down that road."

Well these are the sort of comments you would expect from the extreme right. SOME Republicans regards socialism as communism.
Only time will tell but so far Obama is looking pretty good, as long as they can keep him alive that is.

Cods wallop from right wing extreme rubbish, non-recyclable trollop?
Obama is no Radical left or right.
They will keep him alive, as they don't want another Martyr do they?
But they will try to assassinate his character for sure.

Why would anyone want to use a sockpuppet? Personally, I'll grab every bit of free publicity I can lay my hands on.

They really are quite barmy. I think the problem is that they have been largely reduced to their heartlands - in fact, their vote increased in some of those areas, yet went down in most others. So they tend to reflect the extreme right of rural white Southern/Mountain states

To anonymous, I was actually being sincere. I do actually think Obama will be a good president but I also think there is a risk of him being assassinated. You obviously think I dislike black people due to my links with the BNP.
I agree though the secret service will have to make sure this man is kept very safe. The implications of successful assassination are dreadful. Civil unrest being the most likely.
You should read this in the telegraph....very disturbing.

Somebody made an interesting point to me the other day.
The election of Obama could prove to be a bad thing for many people from black (even though he is mixed race) and poor communities.
This is because he goes to prove that the American dream is a reality and anyone can make it if they work hard enough. If racism couldn't stop Obama, then there is no excuse for anyone of his age or younger.
It's true that there is a lot of racism out there, as Rich gives us a link to the Telegraph article, however, that never stopped a number of Jews, Indians or people from other backgrounds from making it big.

I think the UK should take a close look at the American result. In America the colour of your skin doesn't actually stop you making it to the top, but in the UK it appears to do so. How many black members of the cabinet is there? How many has there been?
I'm not saying I think we should start positively discriminating as I'm totally against this. What we should be asking is why?
My belief is that it is the British class system.
