Now I get what the line is
Nick Robinson has just explained that Mandelson has kept Blairite ministers on board by warning that Harriet Harman will win the vacant leadership if the PM is ousted.
Now I understand the threat, is there a vacant machine gun post I can man in the No10 bunker?

Looking at the recent photos/videos of Gordon Brown....I'm afraid his body language tells all too much.
The man is close to breaking..trust me. I would put him on suicide watch to be frank.
Part of me feels very sorry for him but it could all be so easy if he just let go. Surely he must know he can't win an election, surely he must know that to stay will only result in him humiliated.....
Just look at John Major and Blair....both look younger than when they were in office. Both are enjoying life. Who would want the top job in this country...?

If anyone should stand down its Cameron. As Tory party leader he has been bad, worse than even Major, Hague, Duncan-Smith and Howard. To be P.M. you need firm principles - he has none. He will simply say or do anything if it helps him get elected. He is a puppet whose strings are being pulled by dark forces. Do not vote for this man. He is EVIL.

Carl...the whole political system is controlled by hidden forces....they are called privy councils and lobby groups.
Brown, Cameron.....all I want is a change. If Cameron doesn't deliver then he will get the same and he knows it.
Winning is easy delivering is the hard bit. Brown has failed and most people don't even know what he stands for so come on it is time for the man to step aside.

Rich
wake up pal, these elitist groups control politicians and have them on puppet strings.

Nice to see a united party, luke, by slagging off our deputy leader. Better her than Flint, Blears or Purnell, three traitors who I'm sure you love.

You're a significant voice on the blogosphere Luke. Metaphorically threatening to machine gun our deputy leader is disgusting and disloyal to someone who, like it or not, was elected by party members by a large majority.
Take this stupid, stupid comment back.

Tut tut comrade, where is your sense of party loyalty, etc etc

I'd much rather have Harriet for leader than Brown.

If I thought Mandy were right, then I would be encouraging Gordon to hang on for dear life too, since she would be so, so much worse. But I think a Harman premiership is highly unlikely. (Party members are surely too sensible...? (!) )
As it is, he should go.
