Labour ahead in key marginals

A new Ipsos Mori poll out today shows Labour on 41% and the Tories on 37% in the marginals requiring a swing of 5-9%, i.e. the ones that would give the Tories a majority.

To give you an idea of which seats these are, the 5% swing ones are places like Warwick & Leamington, Dover and Keighley (Con target numbers 98, 99 & 100) and the 9% swing ones are places like Harrow West, Middlesbrough S & Cleveland E, and Ealing North (Con target numbers 177, 178 and 179).

The Tories need 117 gains for a one seat majority - included in the first 117 seats are SNP and Lib Dem ones that are particularly tough for the Tories to gain.

Thanks for the pointer.

Interesting stuff especially about the high numbers of undecided - it's still well worth leafleting and canvassing - and the "figures showing 75 percent of respondents either believed they did not live in a marginal constituency or did not know whether they lived in one".

Further proof that most people aren't remotely close to being political geeks. Curious that so many who are (especially those towards the extremes of left or right) act as though everyone shares their passion (or would if only they could be properly 'educated').

I don't think there is any correlation between 'being a political geek (and thinking everyone else shares your passion)' and 'extreme left or right views'.

I also wonder if there will be any regional differences?

Hughes Views - Not caring about politics is a sign of a stupid vacuous selfishness individual. That is because there are some real idiots who do not care about anyone else, and feel proud of it. Clever people care about politics, idiots do not, end of story.
Intellectual people care about politics.
We do not need "loaded magazine" types asking for us all to be dumb morons. That is what the NAZIs and tyrants from their population.
I thought the dumbed down loaded magazine types and settled down by now.

I still think the question staring at every 'undecided' voter in the ballot box will be 'do we really want to go back to this'.......

4 million on the dole!

Communities destroyed!

Cuts in the NHS!

No minimum wage!

And if they answer the question honestly, they will have to say (regardless of all the failures of the 'New' Labour Project) No!!!

Needs I say anymore????
