Tories understanding the UK outside the M25
The Tory website this morning says tonight's debate is in Manchester:
Except it isn't. It's in Birmingham.
But then if your life has revolved around Eton, Notting Hill and Witney, probably all these Midlands and Northern cities with their millions of Labour voters and absence of Tory MPs all blur into one.
Hopefully their web team are not responsible for the logistics of getting their boss to the right city tonight.

Well it was until brown went up to Rochdale and upset an old lady. I think the void between pm brown and the working class is now so evident. Brown simply doesn't understand how hard life is at the moment for the working classes....and yes there are still people who are working class.
Immigration is hurting virtually every town, wages are being kept down, working directives being ignored and health and safety forgotten. This is the result of importing cheap labour from countries who don't have the same rules as Britain. This is not a level playing field.
I have posted on this forum for years warning you about the dangers of ignoring the working class vote and immigration.
It's all too late and I fear this is the end of your party. Third place is my prediction.

That's rather a nasty, 'bigoted' post from you Luke.
I think your allusion to "millions of Labour voters up Noarth" is somewhat wide of the mark given the appalling events of yesterday.
I expect the good people of Rochdale will realise that Labour see them as a "Voter Bank" who can be ignored for 5 years until it's election time; when they're all just supposed to "unthinkingly" vote for the Labour Party as required.
Can you hear that rustle, Luke?
That's the sound of Labour voters all switching to the Lib Dems.
It's time to get rid of this appallingly corrupt Labour Government.

Mana from heaven if Brown was to have followed Mayana's advice.
It's clear she wasn't bigoted. She wasn't racist. She had worked all her life in public service and was worried about her grandkid's education. She'd also been a lifelong Labour supporter.
They couldn't put a stain on her, as apparently Labour's Dirty Tricks department, tried to do.
Some 83% of the population share her concerns about immigration, according to Reuters.
We're not bigots. We're not racists.
Or, Mayana, is it the case we're all to be condemned as bigots and racists ... the whole electorate?
The Labour party is facing electoral disaster if that is the case.

Rochdale is in fact a LIB DEM held seat. Luke's post wasn't bigoted but yours was certainly ignorant.

Brown has simply done what most of us do daily. He obviously didn't agree with her view and didn't enjoy the whole talking to real people thing. It's very unfortunate that the media was listening to him slag of a member of the public.
The problem is brown is very middle class, things luke immigration don't blight his life as it does many people trying to earn a crust with their hands. Brown is also surrounded by a very middle class cabinet, hardly suprising that he is so detached.
Regardless of browns actions he still has a better plan at reducing debt than the conservatives.

I just read in the telegraph on saturday a man advising the tories to go to the IMF after the election, as an excuse to abandon all their election promises.
This would be an outrage, yet the tory have enough power in the media to get away with it. Labour should challenge them now, before the election.
Will you go to the IMF immediately after as an excuse to abandon all your promises.

No, sorry, going back to the Glasgow East by-election you can see that none of the major parties understand what goes on outside the M25.
I'm not going into it but it's shoddy, the desperation of someone who's had thirteen years, done nothing and realises that it's too big a job to hang on for another five.
No-one can govern. The result actually reflects the reality.
