Council by-election results
There were three by-elections yesterday:
Radstock Ward, Bath & NE Somerset UA. LD gain from Ind. LD 542 (40.0%, +40) Lab 386 (28.5%, -18.2) Ind 370 (27.3%, -9.7) Con 55 (4.1%, -12.2). Swing of 29.1% from Lab to LD since 2007. This is in the NE Somerset constituency gained by the Tories from Labour partly as a result of boundary changes.
Haywards Heath Franklands Ward, Mid Sussex DC. Con hold. Con 545 (50.8%, +1.7), LD 464 (43.3%, +27.8), Ind 63 (5.9%, -21.4). Swing of 13.1% from Con to LD since 2007.
Bilston North Ward, Wolverhampton MBC. Lab gain from Con. Lab 1292 (64.9%, +19.6), Con 460 (23.1%, -6.5), BNP 131 (6.6%, -5.2), UKIP 55 (2.8%, +2.8), LD 52 (2.6%, -10.7). Swing of 13.1% from Con to Lab since May this year. This is in Pat McFadden's Wolverhampton SE constituency.

Labour will be out in the cold for a long time because of its legacy.
Every cut back and job losses the Con/Dems make will just refer to Labours reckless overspending and mismanagement of the economy why they have to do it.
The workers should not be paying for this crisis as its not theirs its a capitalist banking crisis, both New Labour and the Con/Dems have sacrificed us to maintain those wealthy pigs!

The Election results for the Mid Sussex District Council Franklands Ward are as follows:
John De Mierre (Conservative Party) 545 votes - Elected
Raha Kazemi (Liberal Democrat Party) 464 votes
Colin Ripley Bates (Independent) 63 votes
The total number of people eligible to vote in the Franklands Ward by-election was 3524 and the turnout was 30%.

Great result in Bilston North,but what are the reasons for the result in Radstock thats a whopping swing since 2007.
Just wish that the party would fight every seat regardless of wether its a safe seat for the Condems.

The Radstock result (a LibDem gain from Indy btw, not Labour) was, it seems, one of those occasions when vigorous LibDem local campaigning - in this instance asking voters to "send a message" to the Tory-run council - overrode their growing national unpopularity.
We shouldn't be *so* surprised at this. The Libs managed to gain the odd council by-election from Labour two decades ago, when they were polling single figures and Labour anything up to 50 per cent. But as the cuts bite and economy falters, even these opportunities will become rarer and rarer.... ;-)

Then why didn't Labour Nationalise the banks in the 13 years OF POWER THEY HAD?
Labour is in the pockets of the Hadley Wood and Gerrards cross set is it not as they done well out of this crisis?
