I agree with a lot of this.
I am not sure though that Tony Benn supports there being just one chamber although he has in the past. Personally, I don't like the idea of unicameralism at all.
People who have served in government before can testify before committees as is so often the case in the USA. So we can still hear from them even if they no longer wish to seek election.
