How silly and sectarian and contrary to the comradely and collegiate way members of the NEC treat each other, right or left. It's also an insult to the seriousness with which I took my duty to chair fairly and non-partisanly. But thanks for the free publicity guys.

Hey, guess what Luke - Briefing are on the left, and you're on the right - therefore they are going to want to defeat you at the next chance they get.
Don't stress about it - the right are just as good at doing the same thing to the left. John Golding, John Spellar and Roger Godsiff (to name but three) built careers on it.

To be honest I'm much more concerned that all the CLP reps currently come from London, except one from Oxford.

When John Golding was on the NEC he let a lot of leftwing policies through to the 1983 general election manifesto. He knew that Labour was almost certain to lose that election and the defeat could then be blamed on those policies.
Roger Godsiff is not as bad as he used to be although some of the things he has said about immigration are worrying.
