Interesting, although I suspect a one off in that it's rare these days that you see three tall with Labour down. I doubt there are many places where UKIP can leap in at over 30% or the Lib Dem over take a Labour candidate.

Your swing figure for the Barnsley result is incorrect - the BNP share was DOWN, not up ;)

Yes but so was the Labour share - and by more, so there was unfortunately still a net swing to them.

Yes, but only 1% or so, not 2.6%!
You have added the BNP figure to the Labour decline, when it should actually be subtracted ;)

Thanks, have corrected

Gravesham still a bit of a worry though. Kent towns are one of the key GE battlegrounds. Ed's got to be concerned that the message isn't getting through. Maybe that's because the message itself isn't that clear...

Mr Anonymous, we are talking here about a ward which the Tories won easily even in 1995.
And where Labour supporters clearly voted for a highly visible UKIP candidate - aided by a very unusual local election poll.
Plus, Gravesham is a council WON by Labour from the Tories in May. So using this result to bash Ed is a bit silly, really ;)
