I don't think Len McCluskey has called for 'no cuts'. But what is a reasonable critique of the current situation is that Balls and Miliband could have said that they will only be able to decide what can be done nearer the time.
To accept all cuts now can only encourage the government to cut deeper and to encourage the belief that no alternative is possible. Hardly a very sensible strategy at all! And hardly one that will help Labour to win the next election either.
3 ideas for cuts:
1. Abandon plans to cut Corporation Tax.
2. No Trident replacement
3. End the war in Afghanistan.

Not so sure about that. He was a member of Scargill's Little Party.

Wikipedia says he was in the CPB from 1983 to 1995 when he joined Scargill's SLP.

Apologies Duncan. Correct version is Murray was in CPGB until it was wound up in 1991, then he was a leader of the Communist Liaison group, which itself dissolved in 1995, when he joined the CPB.

"this" is committing to the pay restraint after the next election. After watching every interview and reading every clarification (and the letter Luke published on here) I am still baffled as to why this announcement was made. Nobody asked for concrete commitments for 2015, but one has been made: not commitment to keep cutting people's pay. Nothing else. It seems very bizarre to me (to put it mildly).
