Apocalypse now part 2
Just received, in my capacity as a CLP Membership Secretary, a resignation from the Party in protest at the attempted coup.
I have never more than a handful of "activists" (as opposed to paper members or armchair resolutionaries) who have drifted away because of Blair - they are a creature of mythology - and if they existed why would they be any more inspired by Brown - unless there are some policy changes he will make that he is not telling us about.
I think the letter and resignations are part of "Brown starts(ing)his leadership challenge" - you don't think Tom Watson etc would have moved without at least a wink from Gordon do you?
Gordon is destroying himself. He's never been so close - or so far - from being leader. He deserves to be given the David Davis treatment.

Manchester, to some of us, is not Northern England but the Midlands. But, as you're "soft" you must be a bloody southerner!
