If the Daily has got this right - clare-short-to-step-down - the composition of the PLP looks set to improve.
I don't often question Tony Blair's judgement but in this case one has to ask why on earth he kept this person in his Cabinet for six years.

According to Ann Black's July NEC report, MPs should say if they want to stand again by 15 September. So it would make sense for her to have already decided to stand down.
I've been a member of the Labour Campaign for Electoral Reform since 1990 and used to be on its Exec but I support PR for rather different reasons to Clare Short and definitely don't advocate the merits of hung parliaments while we have FPTP.
