Dutch Courage
This has got to be the sickest joke in military history - medals for the Dutch UN peacekeepers who stood by and watched the 1995 Srebrenica massacre.
To be fair to the dutch, this medal is a tribute to the stupidity of politicans who sent soldiers to stand idly by. They had a 'mandate' to do nothing else. This is still a major issue as seen in Afganistan where NATO troops arrive and then sip tea in the north of the country - well away from Hell province. Thankfully we use British troops for what they are paid for and dont tie our armed forces arms behind their backs and their legs together, just like the dutch...
