Bank Holiday Good News

The latest poll in the The Herald has Labour ahead of the SNP in Scotland and projected to gain, not lose, seats.

I see all your Labour Party friends have swanned off for a long Easter weekend, then. Plenty of comments during working hours when someone else is paying the bills, but comes a sunny weekend....

Still, good job I'm still in Hackney (pay no attention to the false leads on my website), so at least someone can post comments to you.

Less public holiday (I think you'll find that Easter is actually more of a religious holiday, than a 'bank' one) good news for New Labour in this report:

As Blair prepares to leave office, the poll of more than 2,000 adults shows that people believe the country is a more dangerous, less happy, less pleasant place to live. There was a negative response to nearly all of more than 40 questions the public was asked about trust in politics, how they felt about their own lives and whether public services had got better.

what the polls failed to tell us was whether any of the people who felt that public services had got worse had actually used them recently. There is usually a significant difference between the views of service users and those of the general public, with those with direct experience of using schools, the health service etc generally feeling much more positive about whether they have improved or not.
