Reid to leave Cabinet
John Reid has told the BBC he is not staying in the Cabinet.
I think that's a great shame. I rate Reid as one of Labour's star performers, who connects very well with the values and concerns of ordinary Labour voters.

In the words of a former Home Secretary, is it too early to open a bottle?

Reid's an authoritarian ex-tankie thug and bully. And far from being "in touch with ordinary voters" seemed to be pretty unpopular across the board.
Good riddance.

I think one thing that's been overlooked is that it was John Reid's decisions as Health Secretary that caused a great number of the financial shortfalls we are experiencing in the NHS today.

Luke,
I'm sure your friends in New Labour will have their loss off-set by the election victory over the channel today. Maybe Sarko could invite the Blairite exiles over to form a Free French style government a la De Gaulle in London?

Actually I think that leftie folks are relieved that Mr %6 or 9% would not be knocked out first by Mr 17%!

So he's a voter-mirrorer rather than a voter-leader? Reid HAS been knocked out first John! By his own realisation that the 17% is a gross exaggeration of his support in the country and certainly among MPs.
