Walthamstow Nominations

All eight ward parties in Walthamstow CLP nominated in their parliamentary selection this weekend. The selection is an All Women Shortlist so each ward could nominate one BME candidate plus one other candidate of any ethnicity. The scores were:

"Open" Nominations:
Stella Creasy - nominated by 5 wards - automatically shortlisted as these represent about 70% of the membership
Marie Pye - nominated by 2 wards
Laura Bruni - nominated by 1 ward

BME Nominations:
Hena Ansari - nominated by 4 wards - automatically shortlisted
Farmida Bi - nominated by 1 ward
Dora Dixon-Fyle - nominated by 1 ward
Jan Etienne - nominated by 1 ward
Nadia Sharif - nominated by 1 ward

Can't believe that Hina Ansari managed 4 nominations. Until 6 weeks ago she wasn't a party member. Joined the party in Nov 2004 and then lapsed Nov 2006. Was given 'continuous membership' on spurious grounds. Never been anywhere near a campaign event or policy discussion in her own CLP. No history whatsoever in the party and certainly doesn't share the values. Poor Walthamstow. Go Stella.

Intersting analysis of Dr Ansari. For one, the witch hunt aginst her is coordinated by a certain member (hailing from North) of Croydon Central CLP who has been at odds with progressive forces of New Labour and generally against any Ethnic Minority candidate.

To correct the bias and perhaps inject some factual objectivity, Hina Ansari has been on numerous campaigns - lately she was around Stonbridge by-election, Croydon (Leaflet distributions) to name a few.

No wonder this negative attitude towards Young articulate BAME candidate has kept them out of elected official.

HALLELEUIAH Hina!!!!

Will be a thriller between Stella and Hina.

Stella - too many local enemies due to her autocratic style.

With Hina 'They never saw her coming'..

Stella - craving for limelight again with her 1-shot fame, pretending to represent the people of Walthamstow. Deal with the real issues - what has she done for the possible hospitable closure? instead she is hogging the limelight for the small library campaign. Comrades don't be fooled!

Or maybe Marie Pye will just walk through the middle of these enormous egos and get on with being an effective and popular candidate. Th rest will see Labour embarrassed by their behaviour pretty quickly.

Marie Pye is an ordinary party member who deserves to be selected. The others are just career politicians, who turn on fake charm and contrive interst in local people.
