Brush it under the carpet and bury your heads in the sand. The usual Hackney Coucil response. Where is the council spokesman supporting local business and residents, reassuring us that it is safe to work and live in the borough??

Labour isn't working....they are failing and the electorate know it. I really hope Brown calls an election this year as that way we can kiss goodbye to Labour for at least 40 years.

Much has been written about the Ken v Boris battle for London mayor, but travelling on the Tube through the City this morning I suspect Ken’s downfall may be hastened by changes afoot at Bank tube station.

Commuters face chaos at Bank tube station
For months, hundreds of thousands of commuters using the main underground station in the City of London have had to tramp up and down broken escalators.
However, this week they have learned that the crucial connection between Bank and Monument tube station is to be closed from the end of this month until August 2009. The stated reason – to fix a couple of escalators.
The closure will hinder the journeys of hundreds of thousands of commuters every morning and if my tube train this morning is anything to go by people are angry and Ken is taking the blame.
To compound the problem, anyone travelling to and from Docklands and Canary Wharf will also be hit by a year long closure of Tower Gateway station.
Therefore the main public transport interchanges between Britain’s two main financial centres – the City and Canary Wharf – are effectively closed for more than a year.
It may seem small fry and localised but it will bring into sharp relief the failings of London’s transport system in the crucial weeks before the election.
Karl Rove, Bush’s electoral mastermind made much of successfully targeting very localised problems and Boris may find votes aplenty campaigning outside Bank underground station for a few days next month.

Well how come you never seem to find Labour loyalists on any political discussion board. From Free Britannia to DU nobody ever makes any sort of case for Labour and it stands to reason that you aren't going to get your message across when that happens.
