The Polls make me smile. The latest is that Brown has made an almighty balls up on his energy deal....according to the bbc it only includes pensioners over 70 or those on benefits.

The revelation was found out by an old dear who called an energy company wanting to get her home insulated.

Incidentally my company has been offering grants for over 10 years. We insulate for around £185.00 and we claim an additional £315.00 from the state. When I called up today regarding the extra grant it appears nothing has been changed.....

100% Warm front grants have always been available to those on benefits according to our Part L team manager....so what has changed there.

Has this whole thing been a spin doctors lie?...please tell me it's not.

Please Luke tell me what the hell is going on before I feed this to the press.

Come on Luke You're clutching at straws.

Brun is a gonner.

If it were done it were better if it were done quickly and all that.

come on Luke, why so coy - we all want to know what you make of the party's descent to toryesque fratricide. I live in Wimbledon and can't stand the fawning letters in the local media about how great an MP Siobahn is. Now I can see their point though!

Rich. The only recent survey had labour up one and the tories up one, it is same results there have been for months so what. It is just mid term blues.
It is insanity to get rid of the PM now. We are about to have a recession so from an economic and political perspective what is the point in putting in a new leader.
A new leader would get the blame for the recession and would wuicjly see any chance of a honeymoon dissapear.
The best time to change would be after the european and local elections when most of the recession is finnished and now mid term elections knock any new leader offcourse.

The Council by elections are not just mid term blues. The people believe they will punish Labour if they lose. Because of the arrogance, spin doctoring and how out of touch these cronies are in cabinet, the illegal wars/occupations of Afghanistan/Iraq, that this government blindly followed the bullying imperialist power on the other side of the Atlantic. The Labour party did not learn from the mistake it made in Korea, putting our troops in there to suppress peasants rising up against tyrant murdering landowners. The only chance is to campaign on local issues. There will be problems, when you meet an English family of 4, who's grand parents fought in WW2, stuck in a smelly damp 1 bed flat and faced with a dilemma, to either split up or stay in squalor, yet 200 yards up the rd is an ethnic minority housing association, that has roof access for parties and 2 bathrooms. How do you sell the NLP policies to them? The BNP really have an easy task-they just point out this and emphasise with them, not unlike Jehova's do to recruit,We need more working class people who can relate to these people in the cabinet?

The last comment is bizarre. Is there any evidence that 'English' (ie white) people have any worse housing conditions overall? Or that RSL's favour ethnic minorities - indeed, specialist associations have tended to merge and become part of larger RSL's in recent years.

There are certainly issues regarding poor housing but to directly link these with race is just playing the BNP's game.

It's a not very subtle reference to the "evening of meetings" thread.

Choice-based letting (CBL) - or needs based letting - inevitably discriminates against the host white working class population in favour of the black immigrant population.

In figures obtained on housing allocations made by Islington Council it was found that white WCs were under-represented in allocation whereas blacks were over-represented.

The figures, obtained under an FOI request, were matched against percentage figures for racial groups in the borough according to the 2002 census. This is the match recommended by the CRE.

White WC perceptions of discrimination are borne out by facts.

These are not my idea's, its coming from thousands of people living in overcrowded squalid conditions in most British cities. 5 years ago I had actually helped an ethnic minority family with a disabled child stuck in unsuitable squalid accommodation in Hackney. They were ignored by the authorities, so I got the ball rolling and sent letters all over the place and eventually they were rehoused, but these people were not from a powerful Muslim or Jewish community. Some communities get the authorities to fall over backwards at every demand, while others are barely recognised. All people should be treated with respect and fairness. The poor white oppressed class many of them now sincerely believe there is a conspiracy and the have been Guinea pig's in Social and ethnic engineering experiment, at great cost to their living standards. This is not coming from me and has nothing to do with my views, I am just saying what perception there is out there amongst the oppressed and what you are going to be faced with whilst campaigning for elections on the Council estate and private slum landlords housing. The hatred is running deep and it's building up. I don't have those same perceptions and don't advocate them, I am just saying the facts of the matter!

Just because people believe that something is so doesn't make it true.

We need to challenge not pander to prejudice.

We do challenge it-But there is not enough of us and these people are in a terrible dire straights. They are stuffed in really filthy, overcrowded, unhealthy diseased squalor-The housing market has caused hyper inflation-Council accommodation is very rare, and you need 50 million points. Then if you do get one, it ain't cheap and still suffers with dampness and decay, these days housing associations are more expensive and just below private housing costs-Unless you are on benefits, as for private renting its absolutely 199% crap. The wages are shit even in Northern London and Central London. These people are really pissed off, because NLP has failed them-Note the increase in the BNP membership and activity-You can keep denying it, but wasn't that the case with Germany in the 1920's? While the BNP are recruiting loads of members and getting Councillors elected and people on the London Assembly. While the right wing factions are fighting each other in the NLP, the oppressed British working class are feeling even more neglected, so some Chav with a BNP card comes to their door steps and points out down the Road, to these ethnic minorities with 12 kids having roof top celebrations and fun, while they are having a life of misery. What future do the working class have, with houses up to 1/2 a million quid and Jobs well paid at 20 something grand per year? A shitty one for sure?
