Have your say

I've set up a Facebook group for anyone to join who wants to make a declaration that they don't want a Labour Leadership election, or further speculation about one, and wants the Party to concentrate on unity and attacking the Tories:

It's to late for that-John McDonnell should have been leader, but he won't challenge it now as he is a gentleman. Gordon should have had a snap election from the start of his leadership-that was the big mistake.Getting another leader right now is going to make a laughing stock of this party. That's not to say we don't need another leader-But any leadership battle can start once the election is out the way. The 2 right wing factions of middle class Morons, should stop this infighting. The party need to get the working class back along with the Unions-That means Labour must look after the working classes the same way as the Tories look after the Rich parasites.

If I was on Facebook, I'd join this group. Can you do it without creating a profile, as a guest or anything?

Unfortunately not, but people not on Facebook who agree with the aims of the group and want to say so can just do so in the comments here.

Read readers' comments to Jackie Ashley's column in The Guardian.

You'd think the Great Hulking Moron would get a sympathetic hearing, wouldn't you?

Wrong. Guardian readers to every man and woman are giving him an even bigger kicking than he's getting on the right-wing blogs

If we'd had a leadership election last year, we wouldn't be talking about having one now. But such talk back then was dismissed as that of 'irrelevant dinosaurs'. But New Labour's failure to do things honestly and transparently is proving its undoing. The Blairite plotters have learnt nothing - nor have the Brownites. (Though I agree with Luke on the other thread that these distinctions are politically meaningless)

anonymous - I'm no Guardian reader but I think it's only fair to point out that Guardian readers and people who comment on newspaper websites (including the Guardian) are a very different kind of creature. Have a look on the Guardian's Comment is Free site if you need any evidence.

Comment is free does represent an odd cross-section of society - what is interesting is that the kicking is going from all parts of the political spectrum.

Guido Fawkes photo has a black line over his eyes. Why is that to cover his red eyes.

It is well known fact that tory HQ run what are called Web brigades or internet brigades of people who try and dominate internet debates with planned concerted efforts. They attacked the guardian and won. Now you are banned from the guardian if you support the PM as the tory camapaign has put pressure on the guardian to ban any pro pm comments.
I can assure you if you put any pro labour government comments on the guardian cif pages you will get banned. It is a frustrating waste of time to support the labour party on CIF. The CIF readers do not represent people who buy the paper. They just represent a very succesful tory plot.

Mark still news. Why are the rich automatically parasites?? It's as offensive as claiming the poor must be lazy. People sometimes make money because they work hard, and are happy to pay the rates of tax that go with that, give some of their money to charity etc. The fact that the Labour pary have forgotten that and penalise success is exactly why they will lose the next election, lose it big and deserve to do so. So, I'd happily join the Facebook group as the last thing we want is any life breathed back into this frankly government.

You must be joking, right? As you so rightly said, I post under my own name and stand by my comments. You on the other hand, just like your beloved Gordon, are a coward, hiding behind pseudonyms and insults. Ashamed to put your name to your outlandish views?

You claim to be serious yet indulge in the most sickening abuse of anyone who dares question you, attempting to close down the debate by describing people who oppose the Prime Minister as being "racist against Scots".

Truly the last vestige of the scoundrel.

You're unable to write clear, concise and cogent sentences; your incoherence and use of language suggest you are a man with an IQ lower than his age.

You also exhibit the same signs of mental illness and extreme paranoia as the Prime Minister. While he repeadly uses phrases like "it's the global economic situation", "I'm getting on with the job" and "we're the best-placed economy to deal with the current situation", in spite of all the evidence to the contrary, you drone on about "Tory blogs", "a conspiracy against the non-Oxbridge educated PM" and "a Sikh plot to oust Brown".

These are classic signs of mental sickness. I urge you to seek help. For your own sake.

Shamik you are the mad one. I have an IQ of 120 and postgrad skills. So I need no lectures from you.

I did not say it was a sikh plot to oust the PM. I said that the fact you are sikh. And there are sectarian tensions between muslims and sikhs may have made you more of supporter of blair because of his invasaions of Iraq, and his comments on Iran and mulsim nations.

Plus I have a right to point out if it is a oxbridge conspiracy that many in the media to seem to take against non oxbrigde educated politicans. The media is dominated by public school educated and oxbridge educated journalists that does lead to bias to what kind of people they support. Why else does the tory leader and Blair get such a clean press? Why does the press not report cocaine allegations about the tory leader? But these "secret coded" attacks by cabinet ministers that did not even happen get repoted as fact. It is a old boys network conspiracy. Oxbridge and public school boy network does stick together in politics. And you help it.
"Secret codes" about the labour party are enough evidence to be reported in the papaers, but serious evidence about the tory leader is ignored. Why?
Look at that daily mail journalist who called Michael Martin Gorballs Mick. If you do not want to see an old boys network and snobbery then don't.

Plus what kind of idiot thinks the global economy is not in trouble. Do you read the papers. Only todays an american bank collapsed. Share prices collpased.

You seem like an idiot.

And your blog is full of photos of yourself. You should cut down om the photos of yourself.

I will not insult you too much as you have real idenitity. But I will call you an idiot, abnd a moron.

Where was the Oxbridge conspiracy when the press were fawning over every decision that Brown made as Chancellor and in his first 4 months as PM?

The left needs to move on from this outdated idea that they are persecuted by a mythical old boys network. After 11 years in power, Labour is the old boys' network. You need a narrative for the future instead of harking back to the one that served you so fantastically unsuccessfuly before Blair.

Dirty Euro,

Gordon Brown is attacked because he's a useless, indecisive ditherer, not because he didn't go to Oxbridge.

So bloody what if Clegg or Cameron or Blair went to public school and Oxbridge? This kind of spiteful, chippy jealousy is as bad as upper-class snobbery.

Cameron's background, just like Brown's, should not preclude him from high office, nor should it be used as a stick to beat him with.

And the criticism of Speaker Martin might also have something to do with the fact that, in the eyes of many commentators, he too is useless; it has nothing to do with the fact he's a working-class Scotsman.

Another one of your recurring themes is that the Conservatives are a bunch of "cocaine Tories"; evidence, dear boy, evidence.

Btw, I'm not a Sikh. Not that that matters.

I find your simplistic, childish world-view of Islamo-Sikh relations quite baffling and quite unbecoming of a PostGrad with an IQ of 120...

Is an IQ of 120 high. Is IQ really a good indicator of intelligence....sounds like snobbery to me. But I'm just some working class thick twat who has served his country for 20 years.

They did not fawn over him. That is a media myth. Most of the press were against him. There was a modicum of support after the terrorist attack which was nothing in comparission to what Blair would have got. It just seems like fawning compared to the media hatred now. The momment labour got 10 pts ahead after the last conference the media have been after him. As they hate a non oxbridge PM.
Just see the difference where secret codes get reported as fact.
While drug allegations about the tory leader are ignored by almost all the media. The miror does not ignore but is treated like they are idiots for bringiuig up facts.

What on earth are you with this bull shit snobby bully boy quote.
"So bloody what if Clegg or Cameron or Blair went to public school and Oxbridge? This kind of spiteful, chippy jealousy is as bad as upper-class snobbery."
When did i say I had a problem with people going to upper class school you idiotic moron. This is the problem when ever anyone points out snobbery in the media some total prick decides the one criticising the the bigotry is the bigot. I am not biggoted against upper class people. I am not chippy. I am poitning out what is wrong with snobbery. Now can you get it into your thick skull that highlighitng snobbery does not make someone a bigot. Just like pointing out that the KKK was racist does not make you racist toward white people. You mad idiot. You are dense dense dense. This is seond time a week some moron has pulled that trick on me. I point to the fact snobbery in the media is wrong then i get called the bigot under some dick logic.

You just fawn over every tory bull shit article.

You are like that moron Martin Bright who is idiotic supporter of every tory idea.

Rich Why are you being offensive to me, you were boasting about the tories being 20 points in the lead on another blog post, you are a tory who argues for every tory idea with low taxes for the rich. I do not have to take your insults just because I make a boast about my IQ. I do not see how making a reference to my academic qualifications make you angry. And how can you kick me out of the party when you are not even in it and you do not even support the party, and you support the tories. I do not get you. Why do you leave a party full of state educated working and middle class people to support a party of upper class posh school educated Oxbridge people. Where is the standing up for the working class logic there.

The man is beyond redemption. If he was stood outside a polling station giving away £50 notes most people would refuse them on the grounds that they were not real.

The only fair chance we have of an electorial chance is a short sharp removal, like the Tories do so well, a face book campaingn would be just doing the Tories work for them.

Perhaps you would be better employed using your talents helping persued Brown to act with honour and go quickly and quietly.

The odd-assortment of ultra-Blairites and bitter has-beens (and never-weres) behind this mini-revolt know that they can't force a leadership election under the "party rules" that they claim to be defending. They are trying to hole the Brown leadership below the waterline, and hope that he is forced to resign after a long and lingering political death, while not having the guts to suggest (a) WHAT the new policy direction they speak of is, or (b) WHO the alternative saviour is going to be. If they have a manifesto and a candidate, then tell us. If they are going to snipe and hand-wring with no solutions, then (and it's a bad day when I resort to quoting John Major !) it's time to put up, or shut up.

---------------------------------

The comparison with John Major is apt; he had the balls to resign, throw down the gauntlet and challenge his opponents to "put up or shut up". Reckon Gordon'll do that? No chance!

Major also won an election, managed to steer the economy back on track after Black Wednesday and achieved more with a majority that diminished from 20 to zero than Brown has managed with a majority of more than 60.

It's come to something when Major's regarded as brave, strong and charismatic compared to Brown...

This is rather silly. A large proportion of the anti-Labour comment on CIF comes from frustrated ex-Labour voters like me. It's true that there is very little pro-Labour comment on CIF but that's to be expected. Comment boards are oppositional so you are always going to get more 'againsts' than 'pros'. Moreover the present Labour party is not a friendly place for social liberals who dislike its stident authoritarianism. If you think that the negative comment is just down to Tory placemen them you are seriously mistaken.

How could you put rigid controls on the price of property? I just can't see how it could work in practice. The same with stopping people buying properties to rent out.

I would advocate terminating the 'right to buy'. It was only ever a right to profiteer at the tax payer's expense and should have been abolished as soon as Labour came to power. The solution to the housing crunch to provide more, much more, affordable rental properties. That means the state getting back into the business of provide council housing - and with no damned right to buy.

They even control our lives and put fear into us about losing our homes and jobs. If they had the chance they would take the shirt from our backs, melt down our teeth fillings and remove our floor boards. The Rich should be eradicated!! The Rich should all belong to the Tories and liberals-if they are in the NLP then it proves something is not right.
