A General Secretary in touch with the grassroots

I was impressed to learn from a friend from Islington that Labour Party General Secretary Ray Collins actually turns up to his local ward party meetings in Highbury West to hear what ordinary grassroots members have to say. This is a very good sign and I hope other senior people in the party are as diligent.

He might do along with the Local party and MP, but most of the Cabinet and PM have joined up with big business to exploit the working classes. All the leading parliamentary parties really are united behind the scenes to rob the workers. You can have a yellow, red and blue car, but they can all have the same body work and components-This now applies to the parliamentarian parties!!

I read an interesting piece on the recent Conference in todays Guardian

Tony Benn said "Conference has become a ministerial press conference, in the middle of a trade fair."

Sadly this is a very accurate description

The problem is that so many of those grassroots have left the party. And not only left-wingers. I've never associated myself with the left of the party, but its gone too far right for me.

Its not only in the ward branches senior NLP people should attend-They should also attend local Union branch meetings to get their views from the workers and find out just how bad people are treated and they should attend their local Trades Council, as J McDonnell and C Corbyn do?
