Yes, 299 Tory MPs would be 27 too few for a majority, but what of the 31 "others". How many of them might join the Tories? And given that there are so many right-wing Labour politicians whose attitude towards socialism is so disdainful, surely a few of them might be willing to cross over (particularly if they thought there might be a job in it for them), no?

Oh dear oh dear oh dear! Cameron's not even in power yet and already his popularity is waning fast. What'll it be like when he starts cutting public services? He'd better head for the hills! I hope he remembers to take his top hat with him!

I think this poll sounds about right to be honest. Interesting though that it also mentioned that the class hatred stuff being espoused by Brown isn't getting traction, though clearly popular with some of the idiots who contribute to this blog!

Mark Still News - And how will the employer pay the increased wages with less hours worked?
This Labour government drove down the wages of plumbers and the like by flooding the country with Poles who will do the (normally) £30/hour jobs for minimum wage.
Not that you do a proper job like that do you?

I suppose my point is why is it ok for the PM to openly attack someone for their class/education whilst it is rightly repugnant for anyone to attack someone say for race/gender/sexual persuasion? No doubt we will see him flail away again at PMQs saying Cameron 'is all personality and no policy' while his backbenchers again save their biggest cheer for a jibe about class/Eton. Pots and kettles...

Anonymous - The problem for Labour is they have no ideas - it's over. Good.
The class attack though is actually a good one, even though I disagree with it.
The reason the Tory lead is narrowing baffles most people since it appears that this useless bunch haven't done anything different.
Labour has to shore up its core vote and this may work I think because for over 12 years the government has systematically crushed the poor in a quite disgraceful manner and without something like this no traditional Labour voters will bother to vote.

Anon E Mouse. I agree too. I suppose the class attack is the equivalent of the tories on eurp/immigration in 2001/05... dog whistle to avoid going below 30%.
