Council by-election

There was only one by-election yesterday:

Oliver's Battery & Badgers' Farm Ward, Winchester CC. LD hold. LD 894 (53.9%, -7.3), Con 604 (36.4%, +1.3), Lab 162 (9.8%, +5.1). Swing of 4.3% from LD to Con since 2010.

Total votes cast down by over 1000, Labour votes up by 36 (more than labour received in 2008!).

Luke, diversifying for the moment, take a look at 'One End of Kent' to see what is going on between the local Labour councillors as a prelude to the May local elections. You couldn't invent this kind of insanity which seems to stem from petty local in-house rivalries.
