This is very regrettable because much 'defence' spending is not about defence at all. Labour should support a programme of conversion so that the skills of workers in the military sector could be used to build things that benefit humanity rather than threaten it.

P.S. I see that Geoff Hoon is the latest to go through the 'revolving door' that leads from the MOD to the arms manufacturers.
