Luke touches on an example of wilfull blindness here.

Polly Toynbee calls for Clegg to step down to be replaced by Cable.
This conveniently ignores Cable's actions.

A few years ago, we had Polly Toynbee and many others calling for Gordon Brown to be replaced by Alan Johnson.

This conveniently ignored the fact that Johnson stood for the same awful policies as Brown and was thus every bit as bad.
